What our clients say

The Case
Mrs C, a young mother from Greater Manchester, was awarded £81,000 after her dentist failed to treat her gum disease, leaving her in severe pain and facing multiple extractions.
Resolution
Mrs C instructed Bridge Solicitors after suffering from ongoing dental infections and being told by a new dentist that she needed several teeth removed. Our investigations uncovered that she had already lost 8 teeth and was soon to lose 8 more, all due to her previous dentist’s negligence.

How It Works
Dental negligence happens when a dentist doesn’t provide the proper care, causing harm or injury. This can include:
- Misdiagnosis or Delayed Diagnosis: Not spotting a dental issue such as gum disease or decay or taking too long to find it.
- Improper Treatment: Doing the wrong procedure or not performing it correctly.
- Lack of Informed Consent: Not telling you about the risks and options before treatment.
- Injury During Treatment: Accidentally harming your teeth, gums, or nerves during a procedure.
If any of the above has happened to you, you may have experienced dental negligence. We understand how distressing this can be, and we’re here to help. Let us take on the hard work of finding out for you.

Step 1
You speak to one of our solicitors today who will assess if your claim can be funded on a No Win No Fee basis. This means that if your claim is unsuccessful you will not have to pay anything.
If your claim is successful, we will pursue your dentist’s insurance company for any costs incurred and you agree for us to deduct up to 25% of your damages. We guarantee that you will keep a minimum of 75% of your compensation.

Step 2
We will then obtain your dental records, a process that typically takes around 30 days. Once we have your records, our team of experienced solicitors, in-house dentists, and barristers will work together to meticulously analyse every aspect of your case. This includes a thorough review of your dental records, models, and x-rays.

Step 3
We tell you whether you have a potential claim for compensation for dental negligence. We arrange for you to be examined by a dental expert and draft an initial Letter of Claim which is sent to your dentist’s insurance company.
The insurance company then has a 4 month period in which to investigate the allegations made and come back to us with a Letter of Response and any offers.

Step 4
We follow a structured legal protocol which involves negotiating with your dentist’s insurance company to secure the best possible outcome for you. Our aim is to recover compensation for both the pain and suffering you’ve endured, as well as the financial costs of any corrective treatment you may need.

Step 5
A large number of our cases settle at this stage but if your case is disputed we then consider issuing court proceedings. We have a 99% success rate for cases we have issued at court to date. Don’t worry, it is extremely unlikely that you will have to attend court, in the rare event that you do, we are with you every step of the way.

Step 6
Finally you are compensated and able to restore your smile!
“We believe good quality dental care should be available to everyone”

Frequently asked questions

How Long Will My Dental Negligence Claim Take to Settle?
The duration of a dental negligence claim can vary widely depending on the specifics of your case. If the dentist admits to negligence early on, your claim may be resolved in as little as six months. However, more complex cases typically take longer, with the average settlement time being around 24 months. Rest assured, we will work diligently to expedite your claim and keep you informed every step of the way.
How Might Pursuing a Dental Negligence Claim Affect My Future Dental Care?
Pursuing a dental negligence claim will not impact the quality or availability of dental care you receive in the future. Your access to dental services will remain unchanged, ensuring you continue to receive the care you need without any repercussions.
How Does a 'No Win, No Fee' Agreement Work?
A ‘no win, no fee’ agreement means you won’t pay any fees if your dental negligence claim fails. You also don’t need to pay anything upfront. However, honesty with your solicitor is crucial, as dishonesty could lead to you paying the defendant’s legal costs. If your claim succeeds, a small portion of your compensation will go to your solicitor.
